Lauren and Eric’s Sugarloaf Mountain Engagement Session was nothing short of perfect. These two were hands down some of the sweetest clients I’ve ever met. We chatted about all things Netflix, including our love for the newly released Squid Games and their recommendation to watch Love on the Spectrum. PS… Love on the Spectrum was every bit as good as they said it would be. If you’re looking for a new Netflix obsession, I highly recommend it!
This Sugarloaf Mountain engagement session holds a special place in my heart. When I was based in Washington, DC it was one of my favorite hiking trails to visit within a short driving distance. Located just 44 miles outside of Washington, it makes for a great half a day trip with less than a two hour round trip drive. There are four circuit hikes and 3 summit trails located on Sugarloaf Mountain. For a map of these trails click here.
The summit features stunning views of the valley for your engagement session. You can reach the summit from either the west view or east view parking lot. I have taken both the green and orange trails to the top before. The green trail departs from the west view parking lot and the orange trail departs from the east view parking lot. In the west view lot, there is a gorgeous stone structure that you are able to climb up on for a few photos (featured below). In the east view lot there is a picnic area that offers great views without having to hike. The east view lot parking area is the perfect spot for those with mobility problems. It also works really well for an elopement ceremony spot.
The green trail to the summit has been improved with steps and railing installed. If you’re going to go up to the summit, I highly recommend you head up from the west view lot.
